About The Team

Based in the Firm’s commercially focused Luton branch, our Employment team offer business focused services to internal HR resources and businesses without dedicated HR resource. The team will also act in a personal interest for senior employees.

Our Employment team deal with businesses within a wide range of sectors and its success comes from taking an in-depth interest in the clients and offering practical and direct commercially minded legal solutions.

Our Employment solicitors offer services covering all aspects of employment law including TUPE, employment terminations, employment tribunal support, business reorganisations and redundancies.

For businesses who do not have any dedicated HR resource the Firm’s employment team also offer these businesses services such as assistance with day-to-day HR issues, applying employment law to business objectives and assisting with businesses to ensure they are compliant with current and future legislation.

As part of supporting our clients and contributing to them keeping up to date with the latest employment law, the team drafts a monthly e-news update.

The department

The successful applicant will be an integral part of a well-established team working with two Partners, a junior Solicitor and trainee, providing employment law services to a solid client base with a view to further expansion. The Employment Team acts for both employers and employees, but with an emphasis of providing support for employers across all aspects of employment law including business immigration.

 

About the role

The role is ideal for an ambitious employment lawyer who wishes to develop their knowledge and skills in the following areas and equally an experienced solicitor who is looking for a change:

  • Day to day employment advice for both employers and employees
  • Negotiating settlement agreements
  • Employment Tribunal work including advocacy
  • The employment aspects of corporate support work including TUPE advice, due diligence, drafting and negotiating the employment aspects of the transaction documents including the warranties and indemnities in the sale agreement
  • Developing a client base
  • Initiating business development activities including writing articles, participating in webinars and networking
  • Providing leadership and supervision to trainees and more junior members of the team
Other information
  • Employment Solicitor with a minimum of 3yrs+ pqe - although the role is initially offered as a Solicitor role, we would be keen to the candiate to work towards Associate level within a relatively short period of time
  • Part-time working would be considered
  • Broad Employment experience – contentious and non-contentious
  • Ideally with experience of employment related corporate support experience
  • Strong financial track record
  • Proven strong academics – minimum 2:1 degree, ideally Distinction LPC
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Close attention to detail and high exacting standard of work
  • Experience of putting together strategic solutions for businesses
  • Commercial acumen
  • Positive attitude to self-development and career progression
  • Experience of networking/marketing; experience of public speaking will be an advantage
